What My Faith Means to Me:  God: The Foundation of My Faith
God has shown Himself true and strong in so many instances in my life. God has truly been my Rock. God has triumphantly brought me through many obstacles, hardships, and trials.  Because God has been so faithful, I have no doubt that He can and will do much more.  God carries me from faith to faith and from strength to strength.  I can stand on God’s promises and know that what God has promised, He is also able to perform.  God has also provided great blessings—blessings that only God can bestow.  When I am anxious, God gives me peace.  When I am lonely, God is my Friend.  God is my Protector, Teacher, and Provider.  God is my Anchor and the foundation of my faith.
How long have you been a member of Olivet?
I have been a member of Olivet since October, 2007.
Olivet is under new pastoral guidance. What accomplishments have been the most encouraging within the last 12 months?
Several accomplishments made under Olivet’s new pastor have been encouraging.  The renovation of the Over-Flow Room and updates to the restrooms are really nice.  I am truly enjoying and being edified by the weekly prayer studies and the Wednesday night Bible studies.  I have been challenged to grow in my faith through J40X.  I am growing in my walk with God.

What new goals and/or ideas would you like to see achieved within the next year? The next 5 years? The next 10 years?
In the next year, I would like to see Olivet’s membership grow.  I would also like to see increased unity within the body.  Psalm 133:1 states, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”  When all of God’s people get on one accord, great things happen.  In addition, I pray that God will provide resources for payment of debt and major repair and maintenance work.

In the next 5 years, I know God will help Olivet make substantial progress.  I would like to see increased membership and ministry participation, increased community awareness, a significant decrease in debt, a concrete plan to eliminate the remaining debt, and a huge revitalization campaign to renovate the Olivet buildings and grounds.
In the next 10 years, I pray that Olivet will have no debt, will have completed the renovation projects, will have many thriving ministries relevant to the needs of the community, will have more unity among the churches in Chicago and the nation, and will have a concrete plan of action for the next 10-20 years.
What passage of scripture would you cite to confirm your faith in the achievement of these goals? Why?
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”-------- 1 Corinthians 2:9
I truly believe that the place where Olivet is standing today serves as the launching pad to Olivet’s future.  As Olivet’s members continue to pray, abide in Christ, obey God, show love to all people, and get on one accord, God will continue to help Olivet build. God can, and will, help Olivet achieve great things for His glory.
