Andre Haynes, Welcome and Intake Ministry

Faith means knowing God will do what He says according to His nature as it is expressed in His Word. By knowing God in that manner, a person believes Him and confidently expects Him to come through for the good of the person(s) involved.

How long have you been a member of Olivet?
I have been a member of Olivet for 5 years.

Olivet is under new pastoral guidance. What accomplishments have been the most encouraging within the last 12 months?
One accomplishment is that Olivet now meets weekly for prayer. Another accomplishment is that members try to treat each other as they want to be treated. Additionally, members are getting to know God more as shown in their response to the Word of God being preached. Members show this by being excited about the message and by taking actions motivated by love.

What new goals and/or ideas would you like to see achieved within the next year? The next 5 years? The next 10 years?
In the next year, have more members cheerfully speak to and greet guests and returning guests. Members could think of themselves as Ambassadors for Christ from the pew, sharing a kind word to a stranger or a returning guest. In the next 5 years, I hope that both the children and the teens have choirs formed for them. In the next 10 years, I hope we become a church more able to respond to the global issues confronting the universal Church, such as crusades for soul winning, sponsoring missionaries, being part of a united front to oppose the enemy’s attack on God’s standard in schools, marriage, abortion, mental health issues, homelessness, and the right to express one’s Christian faith in public.

What passage of scripture would you cite to confirm your faith in the achievement of these goals? Why?
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”----------------------------------- Galatians 2:20

As Christians, our lives are in God’s hands. Christ loved us which allows us to love others. He gave Himself for us so that we now have life with God. Giving our lives back to God in doing His will and caring for His Church is a process towards maturity. As we work towards our goals we’ll mature.  We can’t do it on our own; our flesh won’t be able to persevere to see it through. However, as we put away our flesh and hold to Christ, He will do the work through us.
