Matthew 25:35-36 - 35 "For I was ahungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:  36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me."

Philippians 2:4 - 4 "Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others."
James 1:27 - "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

The Sonshine Ministry of Olivet Baptist Church maintains a point of connectivity between the church and our members who are sick and/or shut-in.  The primary responsibility of the Sonshine Ministry is to catalog an ongoing record of our sick and shut-in.  This record will serve as the official list of the church for purposes of prayer, visitation and correspondence.
The mission of the Sonshine Ministry is to express lovingkindness to our members who are frequently absent or no longer able to worship at church due to illness, health or circumstances.
The Sonshine Ministry desires members who:
  • Care about the sick and shut-in.
  • Understand the value of maintaining contact with our elderly members who have given a lifetime of service to Olivet.
  • Have a pleasant demeanor.
  • Love the Lord.
  • Can serve independently to help pass out sick and shut-in slips.
  • Possess a "Son-ny" disposition.
